In recent years there has been an upsurge of music at Univ, we're proud of the Martlet Ensemble, Martlet Voices, Chapel Choir and the many other soloists and groups at Univ.
Our aim is to continue to be a centre of musical excellence in Oxford. With just two practice rooms available, the number of students needing access to a room has outgrown what Univ can offer. Students are queuing up to practice, often as late as 11.30pm at night, due to a lack of availability of time slots in the current space.
Our music students are passionate and committed, and we want to support them with an additional practice and performance room, so that our budding musicians can continue to excel. We’ve identified an excellent space where this third music room could go, however we need funds to be able to transform this.
This new, larger space could be used for a band or as an ensemble room and could be used for tailor-made coaching and performance opportunities. We would make it fully soundproofed and fit it out to a high quality, allowing every student, whether studying music, or continuing it as a much loved and appreciated hobby, to have the opportunity to practice.
